Gateway: The Series

This series was created in response to John Beckley's work.

I was drawn to the undeniable energy and movement expressed in John Beckley's work. Distinct forces of color and depth exist independently in the same space.

Gateway: The Series explores this tension by forcing opposing seasons to coexist distinctly with vitality and beauty.

The genesis of the series, Winter's View Of Summer, was constructed as a reminder of the uncomfortable heat that will someday take the place of the long, cold winter. Through alternating application techniques, layers of color and texture provide depth and complexity. The undeniable icy chill of winter envelops and holds the heat of summer.

All seasons take their turn showcasing the strength required to contain the inevitable changes to come.
